Museums & Culture
The city runs four museums and the state runs another one just east of the university. Between them they cover art, natural history, the railroad and the history of farming and ranching in New Mexico.

The four city-owned museums are the Branigan Cultural Center, the Las Cruces Museum of Art, the Las Cruces Museum of Natural History and the Las Cruces Railroad Museum, which is in the historic Santa Fe Railroad station. (Wikipedia)
The Branigan Cultural Center is the 1935 Thomas Branigan Memorial Library building and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The current library was built in 1979. (Wikipedia)
The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, run by the state, covers 47 acres and tells 3,000 years of farming and ranching in New Mexico. Its Cowboy Days festival comes in early March. (Wikipedia)
Most of the city’s cultural events come late in the year: Day of the Dead at the Branigan Cultural Center on November 1 and 2, and the Renaissance ArtsFaire at Young Park, founded in 1971. (Wikipedia)
